THE AUTHOR

"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London? No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
— Samuel Johnson

A life and therefore a day full of joy starts with a good breakfast or brunch! The British capital has it all – it is just a question of finding, testing and sharing the experience of these sometimes hidden spots with a broad audience who is YOU!

I’ve been living in the best city in the world for more than 6 years now. After moving from beautiful Salzburg, Austria (yes, the Mozart and “Sound of Music” town) I jumped right into the colourful conglomeration called London where disappointment is not an option. Well, at least this is what I thought ...

Back in the days when I was still a student my group of friends and I were apparently that sophisticated that we enjoyed the cheeky brunch buffet with some live jazz in the background on a hung-over Sunday morning - or, well, we probably just needed a lot of food for an “All-you-can-eat” price ;) Then I arrived here and from this very first moment onwards I lived in a state of deep shock caused by one of the most widespread dishes in the country: The Full English Breakfast. This was all they served and all they knew. Although I befriended the beans on toast and hash browns I’m still not too sure if it is actually worth leaving my warm bed for that on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

It took quite a while till the Antipodes took over the coffee makers and started serving acceptable - no, what am I saying - delicious coffee.

And suddenly – it happened! London was ready for a broad breakfast and brunch scene. Hip bars/restaurants/cafes are opening every day, especially in East London, the capital’s most fast-paced developing area where seeing and to be seen is the first item on the daily agenda.

Quite a lot of work is waiting for me: more and more places are being opened; the quality increases. The menus are being created with a twist and the interior designs of several cafes/bars/restaurants would be worthwhile a review for themselves. Let’s get started - off I go and jump right into a mix of East and West, North and South, Hipsters and City boys, “Champagne-sipping-Mums” and single “Twenty-or-Thirty-Somethings”, Bloody Marys and Mimosas and not to forget: Flat Whites and Cappuccini! And you should follow, …

… because this is exactly the theme and mission of this website: Go for brunch, London!
